Oh, look! A sneak peek at what might be in the June boxes!! Check out Tasha Noel's blog and Instagram for more Vintage Market inspiration, and remember, all orders placed between May 21 and June 20 will receive June's box! Keep checking the Stitch Box Monthly facebook page and the blog for more updates and sneak peeks, as well as some summer fun fabric projects to do with your kids!
Have you been able to dive into this month's fabric yet? I hope you've found something awesome to stitch up! I have another pattern download coupon for you today, and it's from one of my favorite shops! Their patterns are so pretty and classic!
Violette Field Threads is giving us a 25% off coupon, just type in stitchbox at checkout on their website at violettefieldthreads.com! The coupon code is good until June 20, 2015! I'll be using my code to get the gorgeous Haven pattern, which can be made as a dress or romper! I made a modified Piper dress (click here for the pattern) with this month's chambray and yellow fabric, and I love how it turned out. Stay tuned later in the month to see what the gals at Violette Field Threads do with their Stitch Box Monthly!
I left off the little Peter Pan collar on my Piper so I could showcase the crochet edge bias trim I was using, and I did my back bow with straight tails instead of scalloped, and left them loose. This way, I can remove the stitches I tacked the bow on with later, if I want to change it out with a different color bow! As you can see in the pictures where my daughter has the dress on, it got a little wrinkled on our ride home from church! She was excited to change and get in the swimming pool, so I was not about to make her take it off so I could iron it, and then put it back on for more pictures!
Another cool thing you might check out is the Violette Field Threads Blog! They have all kinds of awesome tutorials and this Sofia Skirt is a perfect way to use up some of your scraps from previous Stitch Boxes! Click the picture above to go straight to that tutorial!
May boxes! Here's what was inside, and a peek at what it looks like when I'm packing everything up! Look at those awesome stacks of fabric! It is a nice treat to have help when I'm getting ready to pack and ship, and sometimes my mom comes over to fold while I cut, but this month my sweet husband folded for me!
I had custom wood buttons made just for Stitch Box Monthly, with adorable hearts and the words "You Are Loved" carved into them. I love how they turned out, and my daughter has already requested they be put on several dresses! There was also a gorgeous lemon yellow solid fabric and a buttery soft chambray, perfect for summer! The trim is 3 yards of a woven jacquard ribbon trim from French General, in either a red or brown (selected at random), on a cool wooden spool! Subscribers also received a cute printed nail file (emery board, if that's what you call it in your neck of the woods), because I know I like to have a couple of those in my sewing room so I don't worry about snagging a nail on my fabric!
Have you ever Googled to see what else you can use a nail file for?
1. Sharpen your thread snips or detail scissors.
2. Sharpen a sewing needle. What? Yes!
3. Smooth out rough spots on your cutting mat that tend to catch the fabric.
4. Distress fabric (like jeans or when you want a vintage hem edge) instead of sandpaper.
I have to admit, after watching that video... I've never used an awl, but maybe we need to have one in an upcoming box? I have burned my fingers several times when ironing bodices and straps!
This month, I've been working with some of my favorite designers to bring you special coupon codes only for Stitch Box Monthly! Hopefully, you will find the perfect pattern to use your chambray and yellow fabrics on, or even patterns for some fabric from your stash! And if you noticed in the title, this is Part 1 - so I'm publishing a couple of codes today, and I'll be back in a day or two with more codes!
Stay tuned in the next couple of days, because I'll be adding more PDF pattern coupons and showing you what I stitch up with this month's fabric. I'll also get a sneak peek ready of the June fabric! For now, I'm going to leave you with this picture of one of my little helpers, who got to run around the house yelling, "Exterminate!" because we watch Doctor Who, and also pretending she was a robot (because she really doesn't know what Exterminate means, or who The Doctor is, or why we thought it was funny to get her to say it), using one of the boxes our May fabric came in. They crack me up! Now let's go stitch up something awesome!
Hi! I'm Katie, a Texas mom of two who loves to sew, and hoards fabric like you wouldn't believe.
